Announcement

As it happens in several applications nowadays, PlantNet allows you to also contribute so that my collection of content grows more and more. So many of the photos are taken by people like you and are put on the app to identify yourself. If you know the plant and see that its genus, species or family is incorrect, you can modify it or if it is correct, you can validate it.

Something very interesting is that you will have access to these photos as well as the date they were taken and who took these photos. So even if you don't have a PlantNet account, you can still use it very well with very few limitations. All content posted on the application appears with the scientific name of the plant and its popular name.

Select from a variety of projects on PlantNet

Right when you install the app you will see a series of collections called projects in PlantNet. These projects are nothing more than separations through the regions around the globe so that you can organize yourself at the time of your search.

Then you can select themes like world flora, useful plants, among others. But you can also select by continent and by micro-region. For example in America you will find several countries, but here in Brazil you will see that there are several sub topics.

So you could search for example like Tropical Angels, Amazon, Central America or Canada, for example. But you can also find microregions that are very rich in species that are little known to us here. In the West we know a lot of our vegetation, but we don't always come into contact with the vegetation of Africa or Asia.

All of this can be very enriching if you are passionate about the plant kingdom.

Search by family, genus or species

One of the most interesting functions here is to search for plants by region. But in addition there is a way to search by family, genus or species of plant that you want to know more.

For example, you can search by family name which will make your search much easier if you have some knowledge in the area. Or if you want to search for a specific species, you can go straight to the species menu and type in the species you are looking for. All of this is searched very quickly and simply because the application is very well optimized to work on your smartphone.

Take a picture and know what you found

The most interesting part of the app is that you can take a picture of the leaf or flower you want to know more about. After authorizing the application to access your Camera and other device settings, you can select the Gallery if the photo is already saved or take a photo at that time.

If you decide to take a photo, your Camera will open, you can take a photo and soon the application will give you some suggestions to improve your choice. You will be able to select whether it is a leaf, flower, fruit, bark by biological type or by any other classification that you prefer.

After selecting photos it will be uploaded to the database and you will then be shown some options.

The app is very well designed for what it promises to do. PlantNet fulfills all its purposes very well and is one of the best applications for plant identification. You can find on play store

not only lay people, but even people who work with environmental education or botany are speaking highly of the application.

It has a very well-developed artificial intelligence to help you identify plants without too many problems.

Its only limitation is that it needs a bit of internet for the photo to be uploaded to the application's database.

Apart from that, it is very good and will certainly help you to identify the plants in your PlantNet or wherever you are.
